you used to write me poetry when you were so inspired
you rivaled yeats but lately all you do is sit around and cry
so you got yourself a new job that’s sucking out your life
sixty grand in student loans and now you don’t want to write

you want to get yourself a brush and eisel, paint up on the bridge
but i know you all too well girl and i’m afraid that you can’t swim
